Identifying Priority Geographic Locations for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Services in the Appalachian Region

Diabetes prevalence ranged from 6.6% to 13.0%. Of the counties analyzed, 78 were economically distressed, 104 were at-risk, and 238 were not distressed. Seven of the programs were located in distressed counties, 28 programs were in at-risk counties, and 154 were in counties that were not distressed. Although 124 counties in the region had 1 or more programs, 296 counties had no programs.
