In the article, "National and State-Specific Pregnancy Rates Among
Adolescents---United States, 1995--1997," two errors occurred. On page 607, in the third sentence
of the first paragraph, the number of reporting areas for which age-specific data
were available was incorrect. The sentence should read: From 1995 to 1997, the
pregnancy rate for 15--19-year-olds decreased in
41 of the 43 reporting areas....
In Table 2, the 1997 pregnancy rates by age for the District of Columbia [DC] are
not comparable to those reported for 1995--1996 due to a change in abortion data
reporting which included abortions to out-of-state residents in 1997. Rates for 1997 comparable
to those published for 1995--1996 (restricted to DC residents only) should read: <15,
18.7; 15--17, 124.1; 18--19, 245.0; and 15--19, 178.0. Percent change in DC for
15--19-year-olds from 1995--1997 based on these rates was --22.5%.
